Busy routes in municipalities such as Greenburgh, White Plains, and Mount Vernon experienced closures following a powerful storm that rocked the region with heavy rainfall and gusty winds, knocking down trees and power lines.
One of the areas that experienced the most damage was South Central Avenue in Greenburgh, which was still closed between Mt. Joy Avenue and Old Army Road as of Thursday morning, April 4 as a result of a telephone pole that fell across the roadway, Greenburgh Police said.
The road is expected to stay closed through 11 p.m. on Thursday, police added.
Con Edison is now in the process of replacing poles in the area, Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said.
Another busy road to be affected by the storm was Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, which is now closed between Rutherford and Carhart Avenues, the city's police department said.
Mount Vernon was also hit hard by the Nor'easter, and experienced closures on Stuyvesant Avenue between Pennsylvania and Sheridan Avenues; Central Parkway between East Grand Street and Chesterwood Avenue; Langdon Avenue between East Fourth Street and Amsterdam Place; Devonia Avenue; and North Terrace Road.
