The company, headquartered in Irvington, also announced Tuesday that its CEO Pat Brown will step down. The company is closing its stores in Rye, Tarrytown, Stamford and Fairfield and said it will restock its legacy Westchester locations in Yorktown, Briarcliff, Mount Kisco, Eastchester and Larchmont.
“Mrs. Green’s Neighborhood Market has been a part of the fabric of the Westchester community for three decades and this announcement demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing our customers with the locally-sourced produce and healthy-living products they love,” the company said in a statement. "While the closure of any location is difficult – especially because our customers and communities have supported us – they are also necessary as we focus on our core, profitable stores.”
The move comes after customers had reported stores filled with empty shelves and heard rumors the stores were closing. The company had blamed the empty shelves on a supply side issue and that the move was not related to finances.
The company recently closed two stores in Illinois and one in New Jersey.
