Hastings Man Arrested and Charged With DWI

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Hastings police arrested a local man and charged him with DWI after he allegedly was involved in a March 6 hit-and-run accident in the Chase Bank parking lot on Warburton Avenue. 

Damian Rieger, a 55-year-old Hastings resident, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI, as well as being issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident, according to police. Police said Rieger backed his 2001 Saturn into a 2011 Lexus in the bank parking lot causing minor damage to the 29-year-old female’s bumper. Police said Rieger drove away from the scene, but the woman followed him and reported the incident to police. 

Police arrested three Yonkers men March 7 for allegedly attempting to steal copper and scrap metal from the Pioneer Boat Club. Police said two of the men damaged copper tubing on the tank of an outdoor stove and attempted to steal the tubing. Police arrested a 38-year-old Yonkers man, who was charged with a trespass violation and released on $100 bail. Lester Kidd, a 38-year-old former Hastings resident, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, which is a misdemeanor, petit larceny and also trespassing. Darrell McFadden, a 39-year-old Yonkers resident, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, which is a misdemeanor, and trespassing. 

Back in February, a man walked into a local bank and allegedly tried to cash a fake JP Morgan Chase bank check from the Legal Aid Society of New York, which was made out to him for $987.56. Employees were suspicious and called police; the suspect fled but left the check. After an investigation by police, an 18-year-old Nanuet man was arrested March 7 and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the fourth degree, which is a misdemeanor.

A 41-year-old Hastings woman was arrested March 7 and charged with harassment in the second degree, which is a violation, after an investigation of a physical altercation  Feb. 18 at John’s Bar and Grill. Police said the woman threw a glass that hit a victim in the face.
