Hastings Hillside to Attempt Jumping Jacks Record

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Regardless of whether or not they achieve their goal, students at Hillside Elementary School will still be attempting to set a Guinness World Record next week.

On Oct. 12, students will gather on the fields of Hillside and attempt to set the world record for the most kids doing jumping jacks for one minute.  The record attempt will be in conjunction with the Hastings Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

“Jumping Jacks are fun for all,” said Angela Reeve of the Hastings Community Girl Scouts in an email.  “This promises to be a fun, home town event for our youngsters.”

The event is also a way for students to promote exercising in the young students.

“Our 581 students will be part of the 20,000 needed to break the record as part of National Geographic Kids and First Lady Michelle Obama's efforts to promote healthy lifestyles through their Let's Jump campaign,” the school said in a press release.

The attempt to break the record will get started at Hillside at 1 p.m. out on the fields.
