RIVERTOWNS, N.Y. – A Mercy College graduate has opened a new physical therapy office in Harrison.

Seth Golden recently opened Regen Physical Therapy. Golden attended the Mercy College Physical Therapy program in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and graduated with a master's degree in physical therapy in 2003. He transferred to Mercy after realizing he couldn’t afford to continue at Stony Brook University.

“I am one of four and money was an issue. I wanted a good education, but I couldn’t go broke doing it,” said Golden. Once at Mercy, Golden was a graduate assistant for the School of Health and Natural Sciences

“Seth had great people skills that I knew would serve him well in practice,” said Associate Dean Kathleen Golisz. “In the PT program you are working very hard, but he always had a great attitude and always lifted everyone’s spirits.”

Golden, a Woodlands High School graduate, said he was drawn to physical therapy after seeing a physical therapist care for sick relatives. He decided then he wanted to do the same – help people regain their strength.

“My passion has always been strength. My patients would tell you I have a gentle, hands-on approach and focus on restoring function, reducing pain and increasing patient education to prevent the recurrence of dysfunction,” said Golden.

After Mercy, Golden continued his studies at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professionals in Boston, and graduated with a doctor of physical therapy degree in 2011. He has attended Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars since 2003 and became a certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist  in 2007.

He is currently taking post-professional courses at the Manual Therapy Institute, learning current approaches to treating orthopedic conditions.
