DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - John J. Shannon, formerly of Dobbs Ferry, died March 24 surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was 52.
The son of Mary Ellen Shannon and the late Francis Shannon, he was born in Dobbs Ferry. Most recently of Ballston Spa, N.Y., he is survived by his wife, Alison Majkowski-Shannon; his sons, Shawn and John Jr.; his daughters, Courtney and Roxanne; his brother, Frank; his sister, Mary; and three granddaughters. Shannon was predeceased by his sister, Patricia.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. There will be a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Sacred Heart in Dobbs Ferry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the children of John Shannon and Saratoga County Hospice, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
