The movie, set in a suburban town, revolves around an African teenager and former child soldier living with loving adoptive American parents.
Along with Watts, it also stars Octavia Spencer, Tim Roth and Kelvin Harrison Jr. According to Variety, Spencer plays a teacher who becomes aware of the teen's views on political violence which puts a strain on his family, igniting debates on race and identity.
Hastings isn't the only town of late to get its spot in the limelight.
