"Really nice to have these flea markets spring up along the Hudson River," said Marie Venuto, who traveled from Ossining to look for crafts and clothing. "I think this is a great Sunday venue. The music is nice and the people are enjoying the variety of things for sale."
That variety included jewelry, antiques, handmade quilts, knitted and crocheted designs and even homemade ice cream.
"We make all of our ice cream and have out push cart at the Hastings and other farmers markets," said Ellen Sledge, who owns and operates Penny Lick Ice Cream Company. "Hastings Flea is another great stop, being out and meeting new people."
Visitors to the Hastings Flea shopped with background music from several artists, including Matt Turk, and several food vendors sold hot drinks, lunches and snacks.
Hastings Flea co-creator Illana Arazie said the first market in October and Sunday's second event will hopefully lead to a regular place at the Hastings waterfront venue next spring.
"People are coming by and we're having a good day despite the cloudy day," said Arazie, who worked with Hastings friend Michelle DeForest to bring the market to their community. "We plan to have a holiday market in (the village) and then be back next spring."
