Bronx Man Wins Dobbs Ferry 5K Race For The Fourth Time

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Dobbs Ferry Recreation Department Superintendent Matt Arone said the village's Labor Day 5-Kilometer race was a success as 111 runners ran the course in wet weather conditions.

Kevin Beganics of the Bronx won the men's competition for the fourth consecutive year with time of 17:24.2, about six seconds slower than his 2012 run.

Christy Leggerio of Yonkers also repeated women's title championship run with the 12th overall place and a time of 20:52.7, nearly a minute over last year's great time. Age-group winners included for the men: Calvin Sheely (14-under), Grant Sheely (15-19), John Benvin (20-29), Vincent Galgano (30-39), Bruce Cadonhead (40-49), and Perry King (50-59), Charles Scioscia (60-69). Age-group winners for the women included Olivia Curtin (14-under), Kayleen McGovern (15-19), Nina Wasserman (20-29), Zara Young (30-39), and Amy Lamberti (40-49), Carolyn Clarick (50-59).

Arone said 49 runners attended the post-race breakfast, a first for the Labor Day 5K, whihc was hosted by Doubleday's Restaurant.
