New CDC Report Shows Polio Has Been Spreading In Rockland For Months A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicates that polio has been spreading in parts of the Hudson Valley for months. The CDC said the New York State Department of Health was notified on Monday, July 18, that an unvaccinated young adult from Rockland County tested positive for polio. The patient was hospitalized with possible acute flaccid myelitis, a serious neurologic condition that causes muscle weakness. Crews have begun clearing nearly 190 acres of trees in Orange County near the intersection of Route 17K and Route 747 in Montgomery, the home of the warehouse, which will span more than 1,000,000 square feet.
