Man Sentenced For Hammer Attack Of Hudson Valley Teen
A Hudson Valley man who beat a teen in the head with a sharp hammer has been sentenced to prison.
Orange County resident Shawn Beach, age 43, of Port Jervis was sentenced on Tuesday, Oct. 3 to 30 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for the Dec. 2022 crime.
Beach, who was convicted in July by a jury, had a prior violent felony conviction from 2003, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
As alleged at trial, on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, Beach swung a hammer in the direction of a woman in a residence in the city of Port Jervis.

A new travel advisory has been issued for Americans who may be planning on heading to Mexico, warning them of "violent crime and kidnapping.”
The US State Department advisory comes after incidents of vandalism, looting, and other crimes in the northern part of the Mexican state of Baja California, including the city of Tijuana, along the southern-most border of California.

Two men have been found guilty and sentenced to years in state prison for a violent home invasion in Westchester County.
Trejuan Deas, age 26, and Joshua Emanuel, age 21, both of the Bronx, were sentenced Friday, April 15 for the 2020 home invasion in Yonkers, said Westchester District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah.
The invasion took place around 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, when both men forced their way into a Yonkers home and committed multiple crimes against two separate victims inside the house, the DA's Office said.

A wanted man with multiple warrants out for his arrest in Westchester is in police custody following an alleged hatchet attack, authorities announced.
Aaron Garcia, age 37, of Yonkers, was arrested by the NYPD on Tuesday, Aug. 17 following an alleged rampage in Manhattan that included him battering a car with a hammer and attacking a 51-year-old man at an area ATM with a hatchet.
The alleged hatchet attack happened at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at Chase Bank on Broadway near Morris Street, police said, noting that the Yonkers native is well known to police.

A Westchester County woman was shot to death in Massachusetts while sitting in a vehicle.
Stephanie Olivieri, 32, of Yonkers, died after being shot once while sitting in the vehicle in Pittsfield, Massachusetts near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and South John Street around 3:22 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 25, said Andy McKeever, a spokesman for the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.

Two people have been charged in connection to the missing person case of Jennifer Farber Dulos, the mother of five from New Canaan who has not been heard from since Friday, May 24.
New Canaan Police announced on Sunday, June 2 that Dulos' estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, 51, of Farmington, Connecticut, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, 44, also of Farmington, are facing charges with each being held on a $500,000 bond.
