New TBZ Jumper Pulled To Safety By Officers Who 'Rappelled' Over Side, Police Say

A man who attempted to jump from the new Tappan Zee Bridge was rescued by troopers and a special police unit who rappelled over the side of the bridge and pulled him up with ropes. The incident began on the bridge in Southern Westchester in the area of Tarrytown around 9:20 a.m., Friday, May 27. A woman who jumped into the Hudson River in Westchester was rescued by police officers and firefighters. The incident took place around 10:18 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, when the Tarrytown Police Department received an emergency call from a resident reporting that an unidentified woman had just jumped into the Hudson River in the area of the River Walk. The woman jumped from the bridge around 9 a.m, Monday, Dec. 7, near Tarrytown, said the New York State Police. Four families were displaced from a Westchester condominium complex when a two-alarm fire broke out overnight, leaving the building with extensive damage. SUV Driver Critically Injured In Crash With Truck On I-87
An SUV driver remains in critical condition after the driver reportedly rear-ended a tractor-trailer on I-87 in Greenburgh. The crash took place around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, near Exit 7A in Greenburgh, state police said. During the crash, the front windshield and roof of the SUV were ripped open, and the driver had to be extricated. by members of the Ardsley Fire Department with help from the Tarrytown Fire Department. Three people were hospitalized following a house fire in Nyack, police say. Orangetown Police say they responded to a report of smoke in the building of 166 Cedar Hill Avenue in the Village of Nyack on Sunday, April 7 around 3:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers reportedly observed a large volume of fire in the building. The Westchester County Police Marine Unit rescued two people in the Hudson River after their kayak overturned off Irvington. A husband and wife, in their 50s, from Irvington, were clinging to the kayak when the Westchester County Police Marine Unit patrol boat arrived on scene about 3:35 p.m.Wednesday, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the department. A passenger in a vehicle involved in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night was pronounced dead at Westchester Medical Center.
