Firefighter Injured During Rockland County House Fire A firefighter received burns and suffered from smoke inhalation while battling an area house fire. The fire took place in Rockland County around 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1, at 460 Storms Road in Valley Cottage. According to Detective Norm Peters, of the Clarkstown Police Department, said responding officers observed a heavy smoke condition coming from the basement and confirmed with the homeowner that the house was unoccupied.  Multiple fire companies responded to the scene to assist the Valley Cottage Fire Department in extinguishing the fire, Peters said. Large House Fire Closes Roadway, Causes Detours In Rockland County A large house fire in Rockland County has closed a roadway and is causing detours for motorists. The fire started a short time before 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at 418 Christian Herald Road, in Valley Cottage, said the Clarkstown Police. Multiple police, fire, and EMS are on the scene.  Police are advising motorists to avoid the area due to the road closure which includes Christian Herald Road in the area of Storms Road and Rt 9W.  Traffic is also being diverted on Mountainview Avenue.
