Former Fire Chief Of Department In Hudson Valley Dies At 55 A man who was once the fire chief of a department in Westchester County has died.  Brian Payne of Larchmont died on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the age of 55, according to his obituary.  Payne, a longtime member of the Larchmont Fire Department from 1989 to 2007, served as Chief from 2001 to 2004, and was also a committed member of the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department from 2007 until his death, his obituary said. HS Pitcher From Area Sets State Softball Record By Striking Out All 21 Batters In Perfect Game It was 21 up, 21 down for a Mahopac softball pitcher who made national news with the most perfect of games. Mahopac High School softball ace Shannon Becker struck out a state record 21 of 21 batters she faced in a record-setting performance against rival Carmel, allowing no baserunners during her perfect game. Becker and Mahopac easily won the game over Carmel 8-0. During the game, Becker was tossing the ball more than 60 mph, which is the equivalent of a mid-90s fastball in baseball. North Rockland HS Grad Tanya Alfonso, 43, Softball Standout, Coach Tanya Alfonso died on Sunday, Jan. 7 with her family by her side. She was 43.Tanya was a North Rockland High School graduate and longtime resident of Haverstraw where she was born and raised.  Tanya spent many years playing softball in the various North Rockland leagues and she also coached Little League. Tanya is survived by her mother Esperanza Rivera and her six siblings: Elizabeth, Jose, Quetcy, Frieda, Anita and Kelvin.
