A passenger on a jet ski was killed and the driver critically injured following a crash with another watercraft on the Hudson River over Memorial Day weekend. The crash took place in Orange County around 2:50 p.m., Saturday, May 27 in the city of Newburgh. Four Busted For Stolen Auto, Injuring Officers In Hudson Valley, Police Say
Two officers were injured after wanted suspects in an allegedly stolen SUV rammed a police vehicle in an attempt to flee on I-95 in Westchester in a stolen vehicle, officials announced. In New Rochelle, police Capt. J. Collins Coyne said that detectives spotted a Toyota Highlander with no license plates driving at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2 in a neighborhood on the southwest side of the city. Andrew Gutierrez of Saddle Brook died suddenly on Friday, Feb. 16. He was 15 years old. Born in Ridgewood, he’s been a lifelong resident of Saddle Brook and was a student at Saddle Brook High School. Gutierrez is the second teen to die in Saddle Brook in less than three months. A vigil in his honor will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Veterans Field. Bergen Man Pretended To Be Army Veteran For Money, Police Say
A 60-year-old Saddle Brook man accused of pretending to be a U.S. veteran to reap financial assistance was arrested on Tuesday, authorities said. Following an investigation, Cresskill police arrested Baustista J. Bonet on charges of identity theft, impersonation and theft by deception, Detective Charles Franke said. Bonet was also served a disorderly persons offense. The Commander fo the Cresskill American Legion Post 21 came to police last month reporting a fraud, Franke said.
