16-Year-Old Boy Drowns After Jumping From Waterfall In Region A teenager has died after jumping from a popular waterfall in the region. The Greene County incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Fawn’s Leap, located near the hamlet of Haines Falls in the Town of Hunter. Greene County Sheriff’s officials said a group of teens, all from Brooklyn, was swimming in Kaaterskill Creek when a 16-year-old boy and a friend jumped from a ledge at the top of the falls. Man Charged With Kidnapping Area Woman From Hotel At Gunpoint, Police Say A man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a woman from an area hotel at gunpoint. Christopher Reed, age 41, of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 27, after police responded to the Rodeway Inn on Forest Hill Drive in the town of Ulster for a report of a woman taken at gunpoint. An investigation revealed that Reed had displayed a weapon while demanding the woman get into the vehicle with him, according to Chief Kyle Berardi, of the Ulster Police. At around 7:32 a.m., Monday, June 14, the caregiver for the youngster, who is autistic, called 911 to report the 6-year-old had slipped out of a house in Ulster County while she was in another room.
