2 Trapped Occupants Rescued From Crashed Car On I-287 Two people were hospitalized after becoming trapped inside a flipped car following a crash on Interstate 287 in Westchester.  The incident happened on Sunday, Aug. 20 around 1:45 a.m., when emergency crews were sent to a crash on I-287 in Purchase in the area of mile marker 9.0, according to the Purchase Fire Department.  While on the way to the crash, state police confirmed that the response would require extricating the car's two occupants. Inflatable Jump Bag Used To Save Woman From Bridge Over I-287 Thanks to a coordinated effort between first responders and police, as well as an inflatable jump bag, a woman was saved from a bridge over a highway in Westchester.  The incident happened on Saturday, July 29 just after 7 a.m., when Westchester County Police, the White Plains Fire Department, and White Plains Police were sent to help a distraught woman who was threatening to jump from the Anderson Hill Road bridge over Interstate 287 in White Plains.  The Westchester County Police Crisis Negotiation Team was soon sent to the scene to help negotiate with the woman. …

Tractor-Trailer Bursts Into Flames On I-287 Stretch A tractor-trailer fire on a highway in Westchester caused a plume of smoke to soar into the air as the vehicle was fully engulfed.  The incident happened on Monday, July 24 around 5:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 287 in Port Chester near Exit 11, according to the Port Chester Fire Department.  When crews arrived at the blaze, they found the vehicle's occupants outside and knew the response would be prolonged because of the intensity of the flames, the department said.  With the help of the Rye, Rye Brook, and Purchase Fire Departments, the fire was eventually put out after several hours.…

Firefighters Respond To Tractor Trailer Rollover, Car Fire On I-287 In Same Hour One fire department in Westchester County faced a busy afternoon after responding to both a tractor-trailer rollover and a car fire on the same highway just minutes apart from each other.  On Monday, Dec. 12 at around 1:25 p.m., firefighters responded to the ramp from Interstate 687 to Interstate 287 in Harrison after a tractor-trailer flipped over, according to the Purchase Fire Department.  After arriving at the scene, fire officials found that a modular home had come off of the trailer as a result of the accident.
