Joseph A. Sinagra of the Saugerties PD in Ulster County was sworn in during the annual conference in Albany. He succeeds Chief Kevin Sylvester of the Ossining PD. Sinagra previously served on both the Board of Governors and the executive board of the NYSACOP. New Police Chief Takes Command In Rockland County There's a new police chief in Rockland County, a man who has served as a police officer in the Hudson Valley for more than 34 years. Interim Chief Jeffrey Wanamaker was selected to serve as the next chief of the town of Clarkstown following a vote by Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board on Thursday, Aug. 5. Ramapo Police Chief Calls It A Career After more than 40 years in law enforcement, Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel has retired. Weidel, who retired on Friday, June 11, began his career in December of 1980 with the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.  He was hired by the Town of Ramapo Police Department in September 1981. In June 1987 he was promoted to Sergeant. In January 2003 he was promoted to Lieutenant. Police Chief In Rockland County Announces He's Retiring After 32 years on the Clarkstown police force, and three-and-half years as chief, Chief Ray McCullagh has announced he is retiring. McCullagh's retirement is effective Friday, April 23.  He will be replaced by Captain Jeff Wanamaker, who will serve as interim chief until a new chief is named, said  Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann.
