A 62-year-old Northern Westchester woman faces charges after a dog bite led to officers discovering her pet was unlicensed and unvaccinated, police said. Yorktown resident Patricia Sauber, age 62, was served a criminal summons for failing to license and vaccinate her dog on Tuesday, May 23, according to the Yorktown Police Department. A mother and her toddler are recovering after being bitten by a neighbor's dog in Westchester County. The incident took place in Yonkers around midnight on Monday, June 20. According to investigators, the mother and her 2-year-od daughter were walking out of their apartment building at 279 South Broadway when a pit bull named Onyx ran out of an apartment and was startled by the pair, said Det. A 431-pound bear was euthanized after entering a home in Connecticut, confronting the homeowner and then ransacking the kitchen and dining room. Mallard, 10 Ducklings Rescued From Ramapo Shopping Center
Oh, quack. A mallard duck and her 10 little ducklings almost got squished Wednesday when they took refuge under a car in the parking lot of a local shopping center. But no worries, the Ramapo Police Department, along with the city's animal control officer, and a couple Good Samaritans quickly came to the rescue and were able, with quite a bit of effort, to rescue all the ducks. Once captured and put in a box, the family was relocated to a nearby stream out of harm's way.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center’s Board of Directors are going to battle with Spring Valley officials after they failed to pass a resolution that would include their share of costs related to animal control.
