But the fact that the team is off to a 2-1-1 start in only its second year, is.
Ralph Abecassis, who's coached the Cougars since their inception in 2014, told NorthJersey.com he is impressed with his team's progress.
"What we saw last year was that the kids were just so pumped to be out there. Since then, it's just kind of taken off."
The Cougars will play a 12-game independent schedule against varsity competition this season, despite the fact that only two of their players have played high-level club hockey, according to NorthJersey.com.
"This is a major sport that, I mean, schools likes ours have never touched," Abecassis told NorthJersey.com. "They're excited. And they're committed."
