State's List Of Struggling East Ramapo Schools Gets Longer

RAMAPO, N.Y. – More schools in the troubled East Ramapo school district are in need of improvement, the state Education Department says, according to a report by lohud.

The Chestnut Ridge Middle School was given a "priority" designation by the state Education Department in its latest status report on troubled schools in the East Ramapo school district.

Last year, five schools were identified by the state as needing watching; this year, it’s eight, the lohud report said.

According to lohud, the eight schools are: Chestnut Ridge Middle School (which has been given a "priority" designation), Ramapo High School, Spring Valley High School, Pomona Middle School, and four elementary schools -- Grandview, Margetts, Elmwood, and Eldorado.

The state found that all other Rockland school districts were in good standing, the lohud story said.
