MONSEY, N.Y. -- A state police trooper was able to convince a Monsey man poised to jump off the Tappan Zee Bridge not to do it Saturday morning, according to a story on lohud.com.

Trooper Andrea Wilson was the first officer to respond to a report of a disabled car on the south side of the span at 6:45 a.m. She found a man over the side of the rail, ready to jump, lohud.com said.

The man, a 34-year-old Monsey resident, told Wilson that he was despondent over family issues, lohud.com said.

The trooper talked to the man for half an hour and was able to convince him not to jump, lohud.com said.
