RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A 63-year-old man found himself behind bars Tuesday after stealing from a local supermarket and then running from police, Ramapo police said.
Police responded to the store after receiving a report of a shoplifter. When officers arrived on scene they located a man matching the description of the shoplifter walking along the railroad tracks behind the store, police said.
A foot pursuit ensued and the man was caught a short time later, police said.
The unidentified man, who police said is homeless, is being held at the Rockland County Jail on $10,000 bail.
