Unfortunately, the call for residents to buy another T-shirt has gone out again following the killing of New York Police Department Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo of the 43rd Precinct on Friday, Nov. 4.
"We have been very successful in raising funds for the families of the fallen,' said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn. "Public support has been overwhelming of the police and we are grateful."
A 19-year veteran of the NYPD, Tuozzolo was shot and killed while responding to a call that a man had broken into a woman's apartment with a gun, according to NYPD News.
The suspect, Manuel Rosales, 35, who had been arrested 17 times, also was killed during the shoot-out, said police.
Tuozzolo leaves behind a wife and two kids under the age of five.
All proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts go directly to Tuozzolo's family, Osborn said.
The shirts will be on sale Friday, Nov. 11 from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DARE hockey rink on Yorkshire Drive in Suffern. Shirts are $20 each.
