Suffern Police Joke That Kids Should Be Wary Of Parents Stealing Candy

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Now that Easter is over, Suffern kids should be on the lookout for parents trying to steal their hard-earned candy.

The Suffern Police Department joked it will be setting up a special tip line for kids to call in and report their parents for stealing candy from their Easter baskets.

On the Suffern Police Department's Facebook page, the Department posted it will be setting up a special "tip line" designed for kids to call in and report their parents for stealing candy from their Easter baskets.

The post said "There were numerous reports in Suffern of loud yells and screams from neighborhood children when they realized several pieces of their favorite candy were missing and in some cases the evidence -- wrappers -- were found in their parent's room.

"The Police Department expects this tip line to be overwhelmed, so please be patient when calling.

"This is a growing phenomenon throughout the area and besides the tip line, counselors will also be available for victims through a new program called the 'Children of the Candy' support group."
