The artwork, an American flag image featuring the Thin Blue Line, is painted on wood and framed. It was created and given to the department by Matthew Harmon of Suffern.
"We thank Matthew for thinking of us," said a department spokesman on the Suffern Police Department's Facebook page, "it will proudly hang in our department."
The artist commented on his work after it had been "liked" by several hundred followers of the department.
"A small token of gratitude for the outstanding work you and your staff do on a daily basis," Harmon said, "especially in a time where police don't often get the recognition they deserve for their dedication to the task at hand. Thank you!"
