The village Board of Trustees decided Jan. 4 that Bill Simurra, 27, will get his pay for 30 days, but not for the remaining 60, said lohud.com.
He will receive $2,000 per month, which the state requires, said lohud.com. Simurra's full salary with benefits is $72,000, reported lohud.com.
Mayor Ed Markunas said a "formal military leave policy" is being addressed by the board, and based on the outcome, Simurra could receive retroactive pay, said lohud.com.
