Ramapo Police Make Dwai Arrest, Respond To Multiple Accidents

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Southfields man faces charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs after he was pulled over Sunday, Jan. 31, in Sloatsburg, police said.

The unidentified 47-year-old driver was stopped by police, they said, for a defective headlight on Route 17.

The arresting officer determined that the driver was impaired, police said.

There were also eight motor vehicle accidents reported on Sunday, police said.

One involved minor injury, and one was a hit and run, police said.

The accidents occurred at the following locations: Suzanne Drive-Monsey, East Eckerson Road-Hillcrest, Karnell Street-Hillcrest, Route 202-Pomona, North Main Street-Hillcrest, Forshay Road-Wesley Hills, and two on N. Main Street-New Hempstead.

Ramapo police responded to 103 calls for service; 12 medical emergencies; four fires; 10 alarm activations; and three arrests, including one in a domestic criminal mischief case, and another for vehicle and traffic law misdemeanors.
