Ramapo Police Handle Weather-Related Calls, Emergencies

RAMAPO, N.Y -- The Ramapo Police Department handled numerous issues Sunday, including those that were weather-related as well as medical emergencies and arrests.

There were numerous reports of trees down as a result of windy conditions. Several roads were temporarily closed while crews cleared trees and restored power lines. 

RPD officers responded to numerous calls in regard to hazardous conditions. 

On Sunday, RPD investigated eight property-damage-only motor vehicle accidents in the following locations: Maple Avenue, Route 306 and North Saddle River Road in Monsey; two accidents on Route 59 in Airmont; Northbrook Road and East Eckerson Road in Hillcrest; and Old Cranberry Road in Sloatsburg. 

There were 130 calls for service: eight medical emergencies, 27 alarm activations, eight fires and two arrests. Charges included criminal contempt and a warrant of arrest.
