Ramapo Police Find Drugs, Paraphernalia During Traffic Stop

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Ramapo Police officer stopped a car that cut him off, and when he approached the car he could smell marijuana and the occupants turned over a small amount.

The 19-year-old male passenger from Bloomfield was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Also recovered from the vehicle was a metal grinder, a pipe, and a small piece of aluminum foil containing LSD. 

The driver, a 19-year-old female from Bloomfield admitted it was hers and she was arrested on a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance. She must appear in Ramapo Court later in July  to answer the charge. 

On July 6, Ramapo Police handled 116 calls, including 10 alarm activations, nine medical emergencies, and 10 arrests for charges including DWI, grand larceny, petit larceny, trespass, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and vehicle and traffic offenses. 

Police responded to 11 motor vehicle accidents on Wednesday at the following locations: Cardinal Lane-Chestnut Ridge, Scotland Hill Road-Chestnut Ridge, Margetts Road-Chestnut Ridge, Route 59-Monsey, Maple Avenue-Monsey, Hillside Avenue-Monsey, South Monsey Road-Airmont, South Parker Drive-Viola, Green Hill Lane-New Hempstead, Route 202-NE Ramapo, and Sixth Street-Hillburn. 

Three of the accidents involved injuries, one accident was a hit and run.
