Ramapo Police Charge Hillcrest Business Owner With Counterfeiting

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police detectives have charged a 48-year-old woman with counterfeiting.

The suspect, a Hillcrest business owner, was arrested on Thursday at approximately 9 a.m., according to officials.

The arrest was a result of an investigation involving counterfeit handbags and accessories; the defendant was charged with two counts of trademark counterfeiting in the second degree, police report.

Ramapo police investigated eight reported motor vehicle accidents on Thursday.

The sites of the accidents included: Executive Boulevard in Montebello; Old Route 202A in Pomona; East Hickory Street in Hillcrest; East Eckerson Road in Hillcrest; Route 59 in Airmont; West Gate Road in Montebello; North Main Street in Hillcrest; and Route 45 in New Hempstead.

Ramapo police responded to 145 Calls for service on Thursday, including 17 medical emergencies, five fires and 14 alarm activations.

A total of five arrests were made, according to officials.

Along with the counterfeiting allegations, cases included one arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana, one arrest for vehicle and traffic misdemeanors and one arrest for a bench warrant out of the Village of Airmont Justice Court.
