Ramapo Police Arrest Motorist With History Of DWI Charges

The arrest came about when an officer observed a vehicle being driven erratically on Red School House Road in the Village of Chestnut Ridge, police report.

The officer stopped the vehicle, determined that the driver was intoxicated and arrested him, according to officials.

It was also determined that the suspect had several prior arrests for DWI, police report.

Ramapo police officers investigated five motor vehicle accidents on Sunday.

Sites of the accidents included two each in Montebello and Monsey, and one in New Hempstead.

All of the accidents resulted in property damage only; no injuries were reported.

Ramapo police responded to 139 calls for service on Sunday, including 13 medical emergencies, 15 alarm activations and eight fire calls.

A total of two arrests were made, including charges for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation, officials report.
