The proposal is for five years and goes back to 2015. It includes salary increases of .05 percent in 2018 and 1 percent a year later. There would be no increases from 2015 to 2017, according to lohud.com.

Last year, the Empire Center for New York State Policy gave a ranking to Ramapo police pay calling it the "highest in New York state" because on average police in Ramapo earned $173,361 in overall compensation, with overtime included, said lohud.com.
