Police Search For Driver In Hit, Run Accident That Injures Teen In Monsey

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ramapo police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that injured a 16-year-old girl in Monsey this week.

Police said that the teen and her mother were standing on the side of North Saddle River Road about 5:30 p.m. Monday when a dark-colored minivan appeared to lose control and clipped her.

Weather conditions at that time were poor, police said.

The driver left the scene without stopping, police said.

The unidentified teen was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Also Monday, Ramapo police investigated 21 accidents in the following locales: Monsey (6), New Hempstead (3), Hillcrest (5), Chestnut Ridge (3), Montebello (2), Kaser (1), and Sloatsburg (1). Five accidents involved injuries; one was a hit-and-run.

Ramapo police also responded to 125 calls for service, 10 medical emergencies, 17 alarm activations, three fires and one arrest for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
