Police Dog Helps Apprehended Suspect In Middletown Chase

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- A Middletown man was arrested after leading sheriff's deputies on a vehicle chase for several miles that began in Wawayanda and ended in Middletown on Wednesday, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said that Shawn Judd, 20, was arrested after failing to stop for officers when they attempted to pull him over for failing to signal during a turn in the Town of Wawayanda.

According to deputies, instead of stopping, Judd drove at a high rate of speed through several streets, ending up in Middletown where he climbed into the crawl space of a home on Oak Lane. 

Deputies were able to locate Judd in the attic using a canine tracker.

Judd was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, unlawfully fleeing police, Obstruction of a governmental administration, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana and numerous vehicle and traffic violations. 

He was arraigned in Middletown City Court and held at the Orange County Jail on $2,500 bail. Deputies were assisted by the Middletown Police and the New York State Police.
