It was about 10:30 p.m. Thursday when troopers pulled over 63-year-old Jose Velasquez’s 1994 Honda station wagon for an unspecified violation in the turnpike’s northbound lanes in Kearny, said NJSP Sgt. Brian Polite.

Velasquez, of the Bronx, gave his consent to search the vehicle, where the troopers reported finding three cardboard boxes loaded with the drug.|

Velasquez is being held without bail in the Hudson County Jail, charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute it.
