Monsey Boy Suffers Serious Injuries After Being Struck By Car, Police Say

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 6-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a taxi on Monday on Calvert Drive in Monsey, according to the Ramapo Police Department.

The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. when the taxi driver, carrying a fare, struck the child while traveling east on Calvert, said Ramapo Police Det. Lt. Mark Emma.

The boy suffered serious injuries in both his legs and internally. He was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and is listed in critical condition, Emma said.

The accident is under investigation by RPD investigators. There is no sign of alcohol involvement on the part of the cab driver, he added.
