18-Year-Old Stopped For Speeding in Ramapo Held On Drug Charge

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old Long Island resident, stopped for speeding in Ramapo, now faces multiple drug charges, police said.

Police said they pulled the unnamed teen over on Highview Road in the Tallman area on Thursday, Feb. 8, around 6:45 p.m.

The arresting officer searched the suspect’s vehicle and discovered a large amount of marijuana, cocaine, pills, and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Police said the teen was charged with: third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor; and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

The teen was being held at the Ramapo Police Department pending arraignment.
