SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Leo Joseph Vilord, a resident of Suffern, died Thursday, Feb. 4. He was 98.
Vilord owned the Eureka House restaurant in Suffern for over 40 years, and upon retirement, he passed the business on to his sons. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in Europe as part of the 3256 Signal Service.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Patricia Tirpak MacDonald (Donald); his sons, Randy Vilord (Mimi) and Paul Vilord (Laurie); his sisters, Louise Byrne and Eleanor Matthews; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathleen McCaroll Vilord; sisters Violet (Polly) Melville, Theresa Sheehan, and Annette Grople; and brothers Joseph, Charles, Anthony, Philip and Frank.
The funeral was scheduled for Monday, Feb. 8.
