Village Of Suffern Honors Pearl Harbor Veterans

SUFFERN, N.Y. -- The Village of Suffern had its annual Pearl Harbor Commemoration Sunday in recognition of those lost in the attack, as well as those who survived.

The keynote speaker was Lt. Colonel (Ret.) James P. Kane, Judge Advocate, U.S. Army Reserve. Rockland County Legislators Phil Soskin (D-Monsey), a U.S. Army veteran and Doug Jobson (R-Stony Point) were among those who turned out to pay their respects.

The United States was forever changed Dec. 7, 1941 when the Japanese launched a massive attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in what became a prelude to its participation in World War II. The United States had 2,403 people killed in the attack.
