Storms Result In Road Closures, Many Without Power In Rockland

More than 1,000 outages have been reported in Rockland early Thursday morning, according to Orange & Rockland County Utilities, with approximately 580 in Haverstraw, 400 in Clarkstown, 100 in Ramapo and 65 in Orangetown.

Several road closures have been reported as a result of downed trees, including:

* Mountainview Avenue between Woods Road and Bellview Drive, Valley Cottage

* Northbound Route 9W between Route 304 and Short Clove Road, with backups to northbound Route 303, Haverstraw

* North Little Tor between Brook Lane and Saw Mill Road, New City

Emergency roadwork has resulted in the closure of the left lane of the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway at Exit 8 (Route 59) with backups to Exit 11 (New Hempstead Road).

There is a slight chance of showers before 9 a.m. Thursday. The rest of the day will be cloudy with temperatures falling into the mid to low 40s by late afternoon.
