Trustees voted 5-0 Tuesday to borrow the money, most of which will go toward repairing roads. About $1.4 million will be used to replace some fire vehicles, and buy new gear and perhaps a new pumper truck, says lohud.com.

Fire officials have been pushing for the new gear and packed a Feb. 13 meeting to explain the need. The board had previously been divided 3-2 on the bond money, in following with the often fractious nature of board meetings, reports lohud.com.
