The 164-acre annexation in the Hasidic village received 52 votes; 40 in favor and 12 against the measure, reported News 12.

A lawsuit filed by Orange County and other cities alleges that an environmental study the Kiryas Joel's had performed on the area, was rushed and flawed, and their plans for high-density housing is wrong for the rural area, added News 12.

A decision on the lawsuit from the state Supreme Court could take years to settle the matter, said News12HV.com.
