No-Show Spring Valley Trustees Face Possible Arrest

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- A bloc of Spring Valley trustees, who have been at odds with the village’s mayor, may face arrest if they don’t show up at the next board meeting, according to a report by lohud.

Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme , who has been at odds with several village trustees, has been told that, under state law, he is allowed to have them arrested and brought to a village board meeting if they fail to attend.

Trustees Vilair Fonvile, Asher Grossman and Sherry McGill were all no-shows at a meeting at which the possible suspension of longtime building inspector Walter Booker was to be discussed, the lohud report said. McGill told lohud that she was attending a relative's funeral; the other trustees have refused to comment.

Booker is facing grand larceny and other charges in connection with the issuing of fake certificates of occupancy, lohud reported.

Mayor Demeza Delhomme has been advised that, under state law, he could have the trustees arrested and brought to the meeting, but is weighing options that don’t involve the police, the lohud story said.
