Despite cries by parents that the money should be spent on educational needs, the board voted unanimously -- with the exception of Sabrina Charles-Pierre, who abstained -- to rehire lobbying firm Patricia Lynch Associates, says lohud.com.

The firm had previously kept state monitors from coming into the district with veto power over the board, reports lohud.com.
