The recent discovery of an underground homeless colony in Spring Valley only increased the demand from residents that something be done to help them. Rockland is the only county in the state without a shelter for single men and women, said Hudson Valley News 12.

Ramapo Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence said that the need is greater than most would imagine and there were many more homeless than most people think. But Rockland County Executive Ed Day insisted that anyone who seeks help in Rockland County will receive it, added Hudson Valley News 12.
