Many motorists in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties had a challenging commute Wednesday as a result of heavy delays that followed several multi-vehicle crashes on I-84, I-684 and the Taconic State Parkway.

A crash on the eastbound side at I-684 (Exit 20) was reported around 8:15 a.m. Delays stretched back to Exit 18.

An earlier westbound crash caused delays at Exit 21 (Route 121).

An 8:30 a.m. crash on I-684 initially blocked the left lane on the southbound side at Route 138 in Goldens Bridge, causing delays stretching back to Exit 8 (Hardscrabble Road).

Farther south, a crash that initially took out the center lane of I-684 caused delays at Route 22 (Exit 3) with rubbernecking and backups to the Saw Mill Parkway (Exit 5). It was reported at 8 a.m.

There were stop-and-go delays on the Taconic southbound at the Saw Mill Parkway interchange with traffic backed up to Route 100/Route 133 following a crash that initially blocked the left lane.
