Police Ramp Up Patrols After Fox Attacks In Area
Police have increased patrols and are reminding residents to remain vigilant after three people were bitten by a fox in Yorktown. The first attack occurred at 6 a.m. Saturday, when a jogger was bitten by a fox on Lee Boulevard. A second man was bitten in his backyard on North Deerfield Road at 8:30 a.m., and on Sunday at 12:30 p.m., a woman was bitten in her backyard. All three are receiving preventive rabies treatment. NY DEC Issues Warning After Westchester Coyote Attacks
A week after a rabid coyote terrorized southern Westchester County, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued the agency’s annual guidance on preventing conflicts between people and animals as spring approaches. Beginning on March 1, there were several reports of coyotes attacking local residents, including the death of a small dog that was victimized by the animal.
