During his latest briefing, Latimer announced that he is directing the county’s Bee-Line bus service to suspend fares for riders during the summer until a later date. The free rides are expected to begin on Wednesday, June 1. Lakeland, Hen Hud Schools Add Armed Security Officers The Westchester County Department of Public Safety will provide four police officers to serve as School Resource Officers (SRO) in the Lakeland and Hendrick Hudson School Districts.  The positions were created through an amendment to an existing intermunicipal agreement (IMA) which adds three new SRO’s where the existing IMA previously provided one SRO at Walter Panas High School.  The newly created SRO positions were approved at the Westchester Board of Legislators meeting on Monday evening, Sept. 17 by a unanimous 16-0 vote. Plastic Bag Fee Could Be Coming To This Area Town The Town of Mamaroneck is the latest municipality to propose restricting the use of plastic and paper bags to reduce environmental pollution.Five years ago, town officials drafted and then tabled, legislation that would have imposed a fee on any plastic or paper bags purchased within the Town of Mamaroneck's borders. The proposal stalled when the Food Industry Alliance of New York threatened to sue Mamaroneck.
