Police Investigate Apparent Noose Found In Northern Westchester Park The Ossining Police Department is investigating an apparent noose that was found at a popular local park. The village issued an update at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 after becoming aware of a string hanging from a tree in Louis Engel Waterfront Park that appeared to be tied in a noose. Ossining Mayor Victoria Gearity said that police immediately began an investigation and the chief has met with members of the local clergy and NAACP. Village Hall In Northern Westchester Becomes First In State To Install Gender-Neutral Signage A village in Northern Westchester has become the first municipality in the state to install gender-neutral signage in all its facilities. The idea came at an Ossining Documentary and Discussion Series program, when “it occurred to Mayor Victoria Gearity  that the Village may have a role to play in improving the lives of transgender and gender neutral people," the village said.
